Why these exist

Some of the first study guides I made were handwritten and stapled together. They were not impressive, but I loved making them because I wanted people to have something that helped them keep going after the teaching ended.

That desire has never really changed. I do not want people simply sitting under someone else's understanding of Scripture. I want us learning how to look, to question, and to respond for ourselves.

I want us to become not consumers of information but participants in transformation.

The studies here are built around that idea. You begin with Scripture, make your own observations, follow questions, and give yourself room to notice what is there before hearing what I see. They can be used alone or with other people, and they are meant to help you engage the text rather than simply finish a lesson.

And I hope you find things hidden from me. I hope the Spirit shows you something I overlooked, and I might someday benefit from what he is revealing to you.

My hope is that you would own the process of learning and growing, becoming increasingly attentive to God through Scripture rather than dependent on someone else to encounter it for you.
