It is the night He is betrayed, and Jesus is at a table with the people who will scatter.
Read what He does with the bread and the cup, and what He says each one is.
Then read how Paul passes the same meal on, and what eating it proclaims.
Mark 14:22-26 | 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
Tap a tool, then tap words. Highlight what gets your attention · underline what God is doing or saying · circle a repeated or unfamiliar word.
Read it aloud, then give everyone two minutes to mark it in silence.
Read both passages slowly. Notice what Jesus gives thanks for, what He says the bread and the cup are, what He says He will not do again until the Kingdom of God, and what Paul says the meal proclaims. What details stand out? What surprises you?
Mark 14:22-26: Jesus gives the bread and the cup at the last supper.
1 Corinthians 11:23-26: The meal is received, passed on, and proclaims the Lord's death until He comes.
Mark it:
- Underline what God is doing or saying.
- Circle a word that repeats, or one you don’t understand.
- Highlight whatever gets your attention, even if you can’t say why.

What stood out?
Go around the room. Each person reads one thing they marked. If you know why it stood out, say so. If you don’t, “it just stood out” is a complete answer. Nobody explains, nobody corrects.
Your markings are saved on this device and will be here when you come back.

Let’s pray together
If your group is able, share communion together: give thanks, break the bread, pass the cup, in remembrance of Him.
Pray with thanksgiving for the new covenant in His blood, and for each person at the table.
- What do you need to remember about Jesus tonight?
- What does the meal promise that you need to hold onto until He comes?
When you have eaten and prayed, do what they did: sing something, and go out.
Let’s pray
Breakthrough is when God's Kingdom breaks into your reality: His body given for you, His covenant holding you. Pray from that Kingdom, not toward it.
Be still for a moment. Open your hands and simply pray: “Come, Holy Spirit.”
Read the words of the meal again slowly, and write down what you need to remember about Jesus today, and what the meal promises that you need to hold onto until He comes. Give thanks in your own words.
You can pray more than once. Stay present, and trust that God is at work. Take your time; there is no hurry.
Choose one. Say it out loud so someone else hears it.
Next time you gather, share what you practiced and how God used it, not for pressure but for encouragement.
