“You might as well try to hear without ears or breathe without lungs, as try to live a Christian life without the Holy Spirit.”
A crowd hears a sound, and every one of them hears their own language inside it.
Read what they say to each other, and then read the other thing some of them say.
Then notice which prophet Peter reaches for to explain it.

What stood out?
Go around the room. Each person reads one thing they marked. If you know why it stood out, say so. If you don’t, “it just stood out” is a complete answer. Nobody explains, nobody corrects.
Your markings are saved on this device and will be here when you come back.
The Kingdom and the Spirit
The outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost empowers the church to continue Jesus’ Kingdom work on earth. The Holy Spirit is given to believers as a guide, comforter, and source of strength, equipping us to live out the values of God’s Kingdom with power and boldness. As Kingdom people, we are called to rely on the Spirit’s leading in every area of our lives.
- The Holy Spirit empowers us to live as witnesses to Jesus and His Kingdom.
- The gifts of the Spirit demonstrate God’s power and love in tangible ways.
- The Spirit’s power isn’t just for special moments; it’s for everyday life.
- Radical obedience to God means listening and acting when the Spirit prompts us.
Read this one out loud.
Discussion questions
- Have you ever had a moment where you felt like God was leading or prompting you?
- What are some areas where you desire more of the Holy Spirit’s presence and leadership?
- Where is God clearly calling you to step out in obedience?
Write it out.

Let’s pray together
- Where do you need the Holy Spirit’s power in your life? How can we pray for God’s Kingdom to be more fully realized through the Spirit’s work in you?
Leave space for silence, listening, and Spirit-led prayer. If someone senses a word, a Scripture, or a picture for another, offer it gently and pray into it.
Let’s pray
Breakthrough is when God's Kingdom breaks into your reality: His healing where there is pain, His freedom where there is bondage, His presence where there is loneliness. Jesus is King; His freedom, peace and purpose are available now. Pray from that Kingdom, not toward it.
Be still for a moment. Open your hands and simply pray: “Come, Holy Spirit.”
Ask: “What do You want me to know right now? What were You highlighting when I marked the passage?” Stay open to a word, a Scripture, a picture, or a prompting.
Pray boldly into what He shows you. Ask for His Kingdom in the specific places this session touched:
- Write down where you need the Holy Spirit’s power in your life. Then pray for God’s Kingdom to be more fully realized through the Spirit’s work in you.
You can pray more than once. Stay present, and trust that God is at work. Take your time; there is no hurry.
Choose one. Say it out loud so someone else hears it.
Next time you gather, share what you practiced and how God used it, not for pressure but for encouragement.
The reminder downloads as a calendar event. Open it and it lands on your calendar for tomorrow morning.
Done.
The Holy Spirit empowers us to live as Kingdom people, demonstrating God’s power and love in the world.
