Before you start · for whoever is leading
This session calls revival a lifestyle. Ezekiel is the honest answer: he is standing in a valley of dry bones being asked whether they can live, and his reply is “Lord, you alone know.” The prophet does not manufacture anything. What he does is keep speaking what God told him to speak, and the breath comes on God’s timing, not his. So the practice is the part that is ours: showing up, praying, staying in the Word. The life is the part that is God’s, and one is not evidence against the other.
God sets a prophet down in a valley and asks him a question with no safe answer.
Read the question, and read what Ezekiel says back.
Then read what Paul says is living in you, and what he says that Spirit will do with your body.
Ezekiel 37:1-14 | Romans 8:1-11
Tap a tool, then tap words. Highlight what gets your attention · underline what God is doing or saying · circle a repeated or unfamiliar word.
Read it aloud, then give everyone two minutes to mark it in silence.
Read both passages slowly. Notice what God asks the prophet, what He tells him to do, what happens when the breath comes, and what Paul says the Spirit does with what is dead. What details stand out? What surprises you?
Ezekiel 37:1-14: God promises a people in exile that death and exile will not have the final word.
Romans 8:1-11: Life in the Spirit brings freedom, transformation, and resurrection power.
Mark it:
- Underline what God is doing or saying.
- Circle a word that repeats, or one you don’t understand.
- Highlight whatever gets your attention, even if you can’t say why.

What stood out?
Go around the room. Each person reads one thing they marked. If you know why it stood out, say so. If you don’t, “it just stood out” is a complete answer. Nobody explains, nobody corrects.
Your markings are saved on this device and will be here when you come back.
Revival
Revival is not a one-time event; it’s a way of life. In Ezekiel 37, God shows the prophet a valley filled with dry bones, and God Himself says what they are: “these bones are the whole house of Israel.” Ezekiel’s vision addresses a people in exile who believe their national life and hope are gone. God promises that exile and death will not have the final word. When the Spirit of God breathes on the bones, they stand to their feet, fully alive again. Read alongside the New Testament’s language of resurrection and the Spirit, the vision also gives Christians a powerful vocabulary for God’s life-giving work: what was broken, dead, or forgotten is brought back to life by God’s presence.
Paul describes something similar in Romans 8. Because of Jesus, we’re not just forgiven, we’re filled with the Spirit. And the Spirit gives us power to live free, think differently, and walk in newness of life. Just like dry bones come alive, our minds, hearts, and habits are transformed.
Revival is God breathing life into what’s dry and dead, again and again. And it’s not just for us, it’s meant to overflow through us into the world.
Revival begins with God’s presence and always leads to new life.
The Spirit brings freedom, renewal, and transformation.
A lifestyle of revival is one of surrender, empowerment, and overflow.
Read this one out loud.
Discussion questions
- What does the vision in Ezekiel 37 reveal about God’s heart for His people?
- Are there areas in your life that feel dry, distant, or lifeless right now? What would revival look like there?
- How would your daily life change if you really lived with resurrection power?

Let’s pray together
Let’s invite the Spirit to bring new life wherever things feel dry or stuck!
Pray together:
Ask the Holy Spirit to breathe fresh life into each person.
Pray for revival in hearts, homes, and communities.
Share any Scriptures, words, or impressions that the Spirit brings during prayer.
Accountability: Is there one way God is inviting you to live with more dependence on His Spirit? Share it with the group and check in next week.
- Where do you need God to revive something in you: your passion, your mind, your habits, your faith?
- Are there any “dry bones” in your life you’re ready to surrender to Him?
Leave space for silence, listening, and Spirit-led prayer. If someone senses a word, a Scripture, or a picture for another, offer it gently and pray into it.
Let’s pray
Breakthrough is when God’s Kingdom breaks into your reality: His healing where there is pain, His freedom where there is bondage, His presence where there is loneliness. Jesus is King; His freedom, peace and purpose are available now. Pray from that Kingdom, not toward it.
Be still for a moment. Open your hands and simply pray: “Come, Holy Spirit.”
Invite the Spirit to bring new life wherever things feel dry or stuck. Sit with his two questions and write down what comes: where you need God to revive something in you, and what “dry bones” you are ready to surrender to Him. Then ask the Holy Spirit to breathe fresh life into you, pray for revival in your home and the places you belong to, and write down any Scripture, word or impression that comes while you pray. Where he asks the group about living with more dependence on His Spirit, write your answer down and name the day next week you’ll come back to it.
You can pray more than once. Stay present, and trust that God is at work. Take your time; there is no hurry.
Choose one. Say it out loud so someone else hears it.
Next time you gather, share what you practiced and how God used it, not for pressure but for encouragement.
The reminder downloads as a calendar event. Open it and it lands on your calendar for tomorrow morning.
Done.
God is inviting you into a lifestyle of revival.
